Főemlősök vércsoportjainak kutatása

To date, no cooperative effort in blood typing has been conducted for the four great ape species (gorilla, chimpanzee, bonobo, orangutan), largely due to logistics of coordination and consistent analysis. However, new monoclonal antibody technology in human blood typing has developed a card system with impregnated reagents which needs only very small quantities of whole blood and the results are interpreted by obvious visual reaction.

The EAZWV/IZW veterinary community is asked to assist with this collaborative effort for comparative data. Only a digital image of the card is needed rather than shipping biomaterials and incurring permit needs. All analysis costs are incurred by Principal Investigators.

If you wish to participate, please contact the Kathryn C. Gamble DVM, MS, Dipl ACZM, Director of Veterinary Services, Lincoln Park Zoo (kgamble@lpzoo.org) for more details.
