A post-doctoral position is available at the National Veterinary Institute in Oslo, Norway. We are looking for an enthusiastic person who is interested the modelling of dynamics of infectious diseases in aquaculture. In a newly funded research project we are aiming to establish basic epidemiological transmission parameters in order to build a model describing the dynamics of viral diseases in salmon within an outbreak site and between neighbouring sites. Our model diseases will be Pancreas Disease and Infectious Salmon Anaemia. The post doc will be working in a multidisciplinary team consisting of epidemiologists, statisticians, pathologist and virologists. The position is placed at the section of epidemiology. The section has a broad activity within epidemiology on terrestrial and aquatic animals with special competence in model-making, statistics/bioinformatics, risk assessment and GIS. The preferred candidate should have earned a doctoral degree within areas of epidemiology/biology, statistics or mathematics. Past experience from building stochastic models of infectious diseases is desirable. * * The position is available from summer 2009.
