Bristol Zoo Gardens Veterinary Department is a RCVS Approved Centre for Zoological Medicine.
The Veterinary Department has a vacancy for a Head of Veterinary Services to lead the team of Staff Veterinarian, Vet Resident and Head Vet Nurse. We are seeking a motivated individual who is a team player qualified to postgraduate level in zoo medicine and with at least 5 years experience of working with a wide range of animal species including primates, other exotic mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, invertebrates.
The main role will be to lead the Veterinary Services Department of Bristol Zoo Gardens in maintaining a programme of preventive and curative veterinary care and nutrition in line with the Secretary of State's Standards of Modern Zoo Practice. This is a broad veterinary role which includes the day to day veterinary care of the animal collection, the management of the veterinary hospital, veterinary staff the co-ordination of veterinary support services and advice on breeding, husbandry and enclosure design. You will also be required to work with a diverse range of zoo species plus consult at an exotic referral clinic
