Staff Veterinarian - Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust

Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust is an international charity
working globally towards our mission of saving species from extinction.
We wish to recruit a Staff Veterinarian to be based at our headquarters in Jersey.

The Role

The post holder will report to the Head of the Veterinary Department and provide veterinary services in support of the Trust’s operations,
mainly through the provision of day to day veterinary care for the
animal collection and a gross pathology service. The post holder will
also be required to contribute to the department’s research and
scientific output, assist in the training and supervision of visiting
students, contribute to field programmes as required, participate in the
department’s teaching programmes and assist in the development of
training courses, whilst maintaining the highest standards of animal
health and welfare. The post holder will also be required to deputise
for the Head of the Veterinary Department in their absence.


  • UK accredited veterinary degree and eligible for registration with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons
  • A postgraduate qualification in zoological medicine and/or professional experience of working within a zoological collection
  • Clinical competency with a wide variety of animals including primates, exotic mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians
  • Experience in pathology and animal health management
  • Experience in scientific writing and excellent presentation skills
  • Experience in teaching, writing and developing training courses
  • Knowledge of legislative framework pertaining to zoos
