Full-time Wildlife Veterinarian, New England Wildlife Center, South Weymouth, Massachusetts

The New England Wildlife Center (NEWC) is a 501(c)3 non-profit wildlife care and environmental education organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of sick, injured an orphaned native
wildlife.   NEWC is located south of Boston and is situated on 12.9 acres of land in a 22,000 square foot building.  Each year we treat several thousand wildlife patients, train 60-70 undergraduate students in extended veterinary internships, treat thousands of exotic pet patients, provide veterinary care to Boston’s Museum of Science and to MassAudubon’s Drumlin Farm, manage hundreds of middle schools and family volunteers, host thousands of visitors and school students, and even conduct 50 folk and blues jams.  We are a full-time staff of four, with much of the day-day operations of the Center being conducted and coordinated by these key players with the assistance of part-time staff, volunteers and interns.  The wildlife veterinarian is a keystone position in this milieu of activity.  The successful wildlife veterinarian participates in all of these processes, including the care

Required qualifications include:

  • Graduation from an accredited veterinary school with a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (DMV)
  • License to practice veterinary medicine, or have the ability to be licensed in Massachusetts.
  • Willingness to work as a part of a wildlife care and education team, be flexible, and possess strong communication skills

Desired qualifications include:

  • 1-3 years of experience with wildlife rehabilitation.

The expected start date for this position is March 1, 2012. The salary range is $55,000-$65,000 depending on qualifications and prior experience along with a generous benefit package.
