Two Senior Clinical Training Scholarships (3-year residencies) in Zoo Health Management and Wildlife Population Health

Applications are invited for a Senior Clinical Training Scholarship (SCTS; residency) in Zoo Health Management and a second SCTS in Wildlife Population Health. Both programmes are co-organised by the Royal Veterinary College and Zoological Society of London. These are three-year postgraduate programmes involving a combination of taught components, supervised practical work and independent research.
Scholars will be expected to prepare to sit the examination for membership of the relevant European College of Zoological Medicine specialty board. Scholars will also be enrolled onto a Master of Veterinary Medicine (MVetMed) programme. Scholars will be involved in applied research and will be expected to submit for publication manuscripts based on their research work during the three-year programme.
Scholarships are open to veterinary graduates holding a degree from a European Association of Establishments for Veterinary Education (EAEVA)-approved veterinary school which is registerable with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. Applicants are required to have some previous experience in clinical veterinary medicine and surgery (see RVC website for further information).
Important: Candidates who already hold an MSc, PhD or other higher degree are not eligible for these Scholarships.
The tax-free stipend for the Senior Scholarship will start at £16,902 per annum, increasing by annual increments to £18,222 and will be continued subject to satisfactory progress and assessment.
Successful candidates will be required to attend a 2-day induction course held at the RVC Hawkshead Campus, on 6th & 7th July 2015. The SCTS start date is negotiable but is expected to be between 6th July 2015 and 1st September 2015.
